{ LAYER 01_MY DEDICATION }

To everyone who shaped the layers that make me who I am — my
family, who taught me pride in my Filipino roots and the value of
hard work; my mentors, who reminded me to keep growing and
stay curious; and my friends, who believed in my vision even when
I doubted it myself.

Every project in this book represents a layer — of identity, of
learning, of becoming. I’ve built this body of work one layer at a
time, blending the influences of culture, experience, inspiration,
and one evolving self.

{ LAYER 02_MY CONCEPT }

One Layer at a Time represents how identity, creativity, and
growth build upon each other — gradually, intentionally,
and imperfectly. As a Filipino-American designer, I’ve learned
that my work, much like my heritage, is made up of many layers:
cultural roots, personal experiences, design principles, and
emotional connections. Each project in this portfolio reveals a
different part of that layered story.

The phrase “One Layer at a Time” speaks to both the design
process and self-discovery. In design, we build through
composition, iteration, and refinement — one element stacking
onto the next. In life, we do the same. Every challenge,
collaboration, and idea becomes another layer that shapes
who we are and how we create.

This portfolio captures that ongoing process — not just a collection
of finished works, but a reflection of evolution. It’s a reminder
to myself and others that progress doesn’t happen all at once. It’s
built patiently, thoughtfully, one layer at a time.
